I am starting to write a new book, a primer for Hell. What the hell for?
The phrase ‘What the hell’ is an intensifier. It conveys an amplified sense of confusion and disapproval. That is the reaction of most people to the topic of Hell so I thought I would harness that outrage in a title.
I understand why people do not want anything to do with Hell. It is much easier to deny it’s existence and rebuke anyone who mentions it than to think about Hell rationally. But it won’t go away if we don’t look at it. That tactic does not work against lions or credit card bills.
Does Hell serve any purpose? Is it necessary to justice? Is Hell only a construct of hateful, vengeful frustrated religious nuts? Stay tuned …
